It’s that time of year again. Winter is starting to wear off, and Spring is right around the corner. The sun shines a little brighter, people get a little bit more cheerful, and festival season is in full swing. Can’t you see it now: tons of people putting on sunscreen, vendors selling those cheap sunglasses, and people rushing to the stage to see their favorite band. Starting as early as March, people come by the hundreds, or even thousands, to enjoy a day (or three) of music. Everybody comes together and puts aside their differences, all for the sake of music! It’s a beautiful thing.
Since 2012, FireFly Music Festival has gotten some of the biggest names in music.
Some of those names include: Jack White (2012), The Killers (2012), Tom Petty
and the Heartbreakers (2013), Calvin Harris (2013), Foo Fighters (2014), The Lumineers (2014), The Dirty Heads (2015), Charlie XCX (2015), Fetty Wap (2016), and Florence and the Machine (2016). Based on the lineup poster, 2017 will not disappoint. Some of the artists that are going to perform are: The Weeknd, TwentyOne Pilots, and Franz Ferdinand.
This year the festival will take place June 15th-18th at The Woodlands of Dover, DE. Now, if you’re like me and have never been to a 3-day festival, there are some options for tickets and lodging. You can find ticket info here and lodging info right here. Besides the festival, there are other activities. Yoga, sand volleyball, and a headphone disco are just a few of the things you can get into while you’re there.
Now, like other festivals, FireFly has some rules that you should follow, to keep you and other campers/festival-goers safe. To find the complete list, go here. Be sure to check out the list of prohibited items; so you don’t get caught at security with an umbrella (ella ella), because those are prohibited. If there’s anything that you’re unsure about, go to the festival’s website, and be sure you know how to get there.
If you’re planning on attending FireFly, just know that I am insanely jealous, and I hope you have a GREAT time! Maybe one day I’ll be able to join, but until then, I’ll just have to enjoy the festivals coming up at home in Texas.
