Korn’s New Bassist is 12 years old

What an opportunity of the lifetime! Tye Trujillo, the son of Metallica’s bassist is filling in on bass for Korn on a few South America dates.

Over the weekend Korn released a statement on their Facebook:

On April 17 Korn is heading down to South America for a run of dates in Columbia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Fieldy is unable to make the shows so the band will be joined by a special guest. Filling in for bass duties will be Tye Trujillo, the 12-year old son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and member of NorCal group The Helmets. Says the band, “We are bummed Fieldy can’t join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye. We look forward to welcoming our brother Fieldy back when we return to the States in May.”

Fieldy will resume Korn’s 2017 tour at Carolina Rebellion on May 6.

It is not known why Fieldy can’t perform but he will be back this summer. The out pour of admiration for this young guy is amazing. The energy he has displayed in the few videos of him playing are pretty amazing. However there are some people who aren’t impressed.

Peirre Gutierrez states “Are you —— serious???? Fuck that. You don’t come often to southamerica, some people waited for YEARS and this happens. I’m not blaming Fieldy, he Must have good reasons but at least show some respect adding a proffesional player like Ryan from Mudvayne like you did some years ago. This —- sucks!
Ps. I’ve seen 3 videos of the kid playing, not impressed, he is just good for his age.People is paying good money to see the complete line up.”

All in all this isn’t a permanent deal. Its the opportunity for Tye to showcase his skills for a very big band and even though we are all jealous let’s wish this guy a fun run and safe travels.

Rock on the Range 2017 Line-up Announced

Its the year of festivals! Ohio’s famous music festival recently announced their 2017 line-up! Rock on the Range is located in Columbus, Ohio at Mapfre Stadium. This killer three day rock music festival began in the summer of 2007. Previous performers included ZZ Top, Evanescence, Slipknot and many more.

Each year dedicated goers of the festival often referred to as “Rangers” anticipate who is performing this year. After celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2016 there was some criticism on who should have performed. One big name that was brought up is Metallica. Why weren’t they there for an epic celebration of the festivals existence? Well, you won’t be disappointed this year as Metallica has officially been announced as one of the headliners!

The headliners this year include The Offspring, Korn, Soundgarden and the ever so exciting, Metallica. Other notable performers are Primus, Seether, Chevelle, Bush, Alterbridge, Motionless in White, Attila, Pierce the Veil, Skillet, Gojira, In Flames, Sum 41 and many more. There have been one notable change to the festival this year which has caused some slight controversy. There are no more paper tickets! The festival has announced that it will be mailing unique wristbands that contain a Radio Frequency Identification Chip that will allow quick and easy access to the festival. This band will give everyone access that is unique to their ticket purchase.

Make sure you get there early as the festival starts at 11am each day (that’s almost 12 hours of headbanging music per day). Food, alcohol and of course band merch will be available each day (you know you want another band shirt for your collection). ATM’s are available throughout the grounds as well as a medical tent. Showers are even available (phew).

Even though this festival is six months away it has already sold out on camping packages and weekend field stadium general admission. Better hurry and plan for the greatest festival of the year.

Rock on the Range takes place on May 19th, 20th and 21st.

UPDATE***: Rock on the Range has officially sold out as of January 3rd, 2017. See you there Rangers.
